Enjoying the Football Season

Football is a great pastime for many. You lead a busy life as an accountant or teacher. You want to make football an escape for yourself and you know that there are times when it’s the only fun you’ll have during the week. So, if you are looking to keep the football year exciting then you can spice things up a bit.

Everyone knows about the fun of fantasy football, but there are other pools and games you and your buddies can play to keep football interesting throughout the whole season. The best example of that is the survivor pool.

Each person puts in a set dollar amount at the beginning of the season. If you need a program to help you keep track of the money and online payments there are many out there and they really work. Then each week you and your buddies pick one team that each of you thinks will win that week. If your team wins then you get to stay in the pool. If your team loses than you are out of the pool.

For those that get to stay in, the next week you have to pick a team, but the team you pick cannot be a team that you have already picked – once they have been used they cannot be used again.

Once the pool is over you can have another pool if there is enough time left in the season. Doing a second pool can be fun because at the end of the season there are a lot of teams that are dealing with injuries and teams who are no longer committed to the season. A survivor pool can be so addicting you may need an intervention counselor.

Study groups allow like-minded students to gather to share information and ideas, compare notes and prepare for examinations and course lectures. A study group is a smart idea, and knowing how to start your own group is essential. But realize to that for a test like this, you will need to also take gmat prep courses and practice tests in order to be successful. And now you can take many of these courses online and meet other students virtually to begin a study group.

It is important to realize that study groups do not simply happen. You need to actually go forth and start one. The first thing that you should do is to get to know all of your classmates online. Try to make contact with them through chat sessions, school forums or email. Choose classmates that seem motivated to actually do well, students that understand the topic, classmates that are actually dependable, classmates that seem to be tolerant of others’ ideas and students that you actually feel like you would enjoy working with in your preparation for your GMAT test.

Decide how often your group is going to meet and how long your group is going to meet for. Between two and three meetings per week is typically ideal, though you can opt for longer and fewer studying sessions if needed as well. Just remember that it will also depend on the amount of classes per week you will be meeting online for your GMAT prep courses. The great thing about meeting virtually to prepare for your Graduate Management Admissions Test is that it will be much more convenient for everyone involved. Going it alone might be something you did in the past but a study group will really help you prepare for such a challenging test.

Best Way to Use the Best?

Where do the best and brightest go? Well, in the current American system the elite attend a top university, which means going to Harvard or Stanford. Simply going to one of these schools does not guarantee a successful career, but it is a great start and door opener. After graduating from an Ivy League school many people then decide to attend professional school, which means that many of these same students then receive MBAs or law degrees.

The cost of attendance for this type of training often dictates that the person must then seek a position in investment banking or corporate law. While these industries pay well and provide additional benefits such as access to powerful people, the zero sum game of corporate finance has created numerous schemes and financial bubbles.

Does it best serve society to push its finest minds into financial careers? To put the situation in economic terms what is the cost of sending the top minds into fields that shift money around rather than create new fields?

While it is undeniable that corporate law and banking requires exceptional reasoning skills and drive, would it not be better to push these driven people into scientific fields or have them work on something other than creating complex ways to squeeze additional revenue for a company?

There is no definitive way to answer the question. History will play itself out, and the system will either be justified or condemned. While it is possibly that this is the high point of human society, it seems unlikely. A great mathematical mind might be able to crack stock trading or develop a way to trade other assets, but the reward from this efforts will be enjoyed by only a select few. The invention of a new mode of transportation or medicine could transform life for all members of society.
